I rose from a deep slumber of dead tiredness at 8 am. I remained in a zombie-like state until around 9:30 am. At that point I decided it was time to stop wasting my life away.
I got dressed, made some coffee to go (30 calories) and started getting stuff done.
First I went to my parent's house to clean up all the mess I made yesterday. I reclaimed my stand mixer, the various food items I brought over and a bag of clothing.
Then to hubby's work to drop off his lunch. Which he forgot to take. As usual.
Finally, two grocery stores. One for basics and dinner necessities, the other to take advantage of their weekly produce sales. (Cherries, grapes, green beans, SCORE!)
Then home. Put all the stuff away. Seasoned the chicken and precooked the turkey italian sausages I asked my husband to grill tonight for use in dinner/lunches. Chopped the bananas I bought and stuck 'em in the freezer. (Not really a huge fresh banana fan. I love them frozen in smoothies though!)
Best part of the morning though? Making frozen yogurt... the right way this time. Started out with a quart of ZOI non-fat plain greek yogurt. Added 1/2 c of sugar. Threw it in the ice cream maker.
Waited.
Checked.
Waited.
Tap tap tap...
Done.
Scooped out a half cup. Added some fresh cherries. Photographed.
Devoured.
Perfect. I will make this over and over and over again. I already know. 120 calories per half cup of froyo. 30 calories for the cherries.
Started cleaning the house. Knew I was going to be hungry again soon. Boiled an egg.
Shortly before work I enjoyed lunch part two.
Smashed up the boiled egg with just enough mustard to get it all to stick together a bit. Added some spicy sprouts and freshly ground pepper. Sandwiched between toasted dill rye bread. 200 calories.
I don't know if it was the protein from the greek yogurt kicking in or some kind of spicy sprout voodoo but I felt SO full after I ate this.
In fact it's 3 pm as I write this and I still feel extremely satiated. Stuffed even.
This does not usually happen for me after a 350 calorie meal.
I did also drink 16 ounces of water right after eating though and another 16 ounces of jasmine tea throughout the afternoon. (Jasmine tea, by the way, is awesome. Possibly one of my all time favorites. Seriously.)
The full feeling didn't stop me from eating part of my at-work snack however!
At least it was a bowl full of veggies though. I mean if I am gonna gorge myself on something, it might as well be veggies!
Iceberg lettuce salad mix nutritionalized (just made that up) with some broccoli slaw and sprouts. 1 tbsp of Trader Joe's spicy peanut vinaigrette and 1 tbsp of rice vinegar (MISTAKE!). I had to eat up because the lettuce was getting all soggy and gross. (50 calories)
Also had some roasted seaweed snacks.
It doesn't fill you up much, but it's nice for those salty/I just wanna munch cravings. Especially because the 1/4 of the bag I ate was only 15 calories.
I haven't been eating much fruit lately so I made a point of getting more in today. A bit after my seaweed snack I ate a cup of grapes. 60 calories. This is a sampling.
And then of course the 4:30 munchies struck with a vengeance. Never fear. Miso soup to the rescue!
45 calories for 1 cup. Thank you Trader Joe's! It's actually very good. I was iffy.
When my husband got home he fired up the grill to bbq chicken for dinner and italian sausages for lunch later in the week. He knows I love roasted marshmallows so he made this one for me. I just couldn't resist.
I told him "I can't eat it until it's photographed!" and he took this artistic little shot.
23 calories of totally worth it ness.
And finally dinner. My aunt, parents and a friend came over. They all had nachos. I made a mound of chicken, beans, a bit of cheese, lots of zucchini and some corn, salsa, and cabbage. Then I put half a serving of Juanita's crack corn tortilla chips on the side. I very carefully measured everything. I'm sure my family thought I was insane. 400 calories.
I ended up crumbling the chips on top and adding lots more cabbage so it became a sort of salad thingy.
I LOVE fresh corn. I could eat it by the bucket. Seriously. I added freshly crushed garlic to the corn and zucchini... oh man. There's a lot left (my family hates veggies) and I am STOKED to chow down on it tomorrow.
Also I just discovered the amazingness that is a GARLIC PRESS!
HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?!!
I HATE CHOPPING GARLIC!!
THIS THING IS LIKE MAGIC!!
*hyperventilates*
After dinner I had some more frozen yogurt. 120 calories.
Then I went to the gym and ran/walked 2.5 miles.
Went to Walmart and bought a garlic press. My life is now complete.
Wait. Then I had a smidge more frozen yogurt and some cherries. 110 calories.
NOW my life is complete.
According to Lose It I ate about 1200 calories.
I haven't decided if this is too little for me yet. I'm not starving or anything right now... So I'm just going to go with it. See what happens.
I give today a 10 out of 10! I ate plenty of vegetables, 2 servings of fruit, worked out and had only one small sugary treat.
I'm pretty dang proud of myself.
I even drank a boat load of water.
Okay. I need to go stretch now. Nitey nite.
